Atlas May was a St. Louis native who owned and operated the Little Daisy Cafe in the 1920s. Always an opportunist, he got into the bootlegging business during Prohibition and started the Lackadaisy speakeasy under his cafe. Atlas profited a lot from his business. In 1926, at which point he and Mitzi had been married approximately five years, Atlas met a violent and mysterious end. Mitzi May then inherited the Little Daisy Cafe and Lackadaisy. It is not certain how involved she was in his death. He is also the godfather of Ivy Pepper.
